We have talked about this a few times, but his cage right now is about 90% secure, and I'm okay with that. That is, he can't "pull out" except on hot days when he's been working in the yard, and gets into a hot shower. And quite honestly, at this point there's no way that he would break a 3 1/2 year long streak - and since men are so competitive about things, I can't imagine that ever changing 😅.
But there's also a safety factor that concerns me. At my insistence, he usually has an emergency key. How would he be able to unlock and remove a hoop in case something happened?
Also in the warmer weather I allow him to remove the cage for road biking so he doesn't get chafed or injured. Undoing the piercing once or twice a week doesn't sound like a safe idea to me.
Finally, if I were to have him pierced now, he would have to leave the cage off for weeks or a couple of months while it healed and stretched up. His cage hasn't been off for more than a few hours, there's no way I'd want it off for that kind of time.
Yes, it's a hot idea, and we do talk about having a device permanently "installed," but right now it's just not something I want him to do.
