Habitat Wants a Team-Up to Build Affordable Housing

For the first time in the affiliate’s history, Habitat for Humanity Wellington Dufferin Guelph (Habitat WDG) is able to offer 80 Team Build Days for businesses, organizations and team groups in the community. Booking is now open for Team Build Days for 2018 spring, summer and early fall seasons at the Cityview Village construction site, located near York Road and Victoria Road in Guelph.

“Now that we’re building on a much larger scale, we need the community more than ever before,” explains Amber Wood, Senior Manager of Stakeholder Programs for Habitat WDG. “Our community has the chance to share their Guelph-proud passion on our build site and actually see the result of their dedication to the cause of affordable housing. We’re so pleased to announce that this year, we’re able to give that feeling of achievement to more people than ever before.”

At $2,000, Team Build Days act as revenue source for Habitat WDG, allowing for the organization to scale up their builds in the community. “For Habitat, scaling up is much more than quantity,” explains Wood. “Scaling up means building affordable and inclusive communities. We know that the need for affordable housing is great, and building on a multi-home scale for seniors, people with disabilities and single-and-dual parent families is just the beginning to building a future where our entire community is supported and prosperous.”
