Guelph Police Have a Lucky St Patrick’s Day!

The Guelph Police Service, the University of Guelph, Guelph By-Law Officers, members of the Town and Gown and Joint Enforcement Committees worked together proactively to ensure that all community members had a safe and enjoyable 2018 St. Patrick’s Day.
The Guelph Police responded to twenty noise complaints, resulting in three tickets. There were six liquor related tickets issued, four people taken into custody for being intoxicated in a public place and one person charged for urinating in a public place. There were a number of vehicles stopped by officers for Highway Traffic Act offences and as a result, ten charges were laid under the Highway Traffic Act.
During the R.I.D.E. enforcement program, 350 vehicles were stopped at various locations throughout the city. Two roadside breath tests were administered and both drivers passed. There were no impaired driving arrests or driving suspensions issued.
The Guelph Police Service responded to 264 calls for service between 8:00am March 17, 2018 and 4:00am March 18, 2018.
