Here’s a quick reminder: you don’t need fake friends. Social climbers are usually the ones looking to manipulate their casual acquaintances. It’s nice to be known, but it’s more important to be respected and appreciated.

If the people around you can’t support you without strings attached then cut ties. If you are expending your life’s energy on people you truly don’t care about or respect check yourself. Life is too short.
