IBS Symptoms

The primary symptom associated with #IBS is abdominal pain or discomfort; however, other IBS symptoms can vary from person to person. In order to be diagnosed as IBS, the pain in the abdomen must be also present with two of the following three characteristics:

  1. A change in the frequency of the stool
  2. A change in the appearance of the stool
  3. The pain is relieved upon defecation

Other IBS symptoms may include:

  • Pain or cramping in the abdominal region
  • Feeling bloated
  • Gas
  • The appearance of mucus in the stool
