Stranger Things and the 11:11 Gateway

We know who 11 is and her identity and backstory, but she wasn’t numbered 11 by accident. 11 is a significant number in the spiritual or supernatural world. The strangest thing about Stranger Things may be the spiritual world it seems to portray in demonstrable upside down imagery. If I’m right, Eleven is only the first 11 of the 1111 Gateway. The two elevens together are twin flames who have a shared purpose and mission. Let’s look at the facts shall we?

Stranger Things season 1, episode 1 begins with a shot of the sky and the stars. Why start at a wide shot of the universe? Because, this story is about connections and the worlds which make up the universe. Then, the words appear “November 6, 1983 Hawkins Indiana.” You might think that date is some random linear point, but let’s look at it more carefully, shall we? November 6, 1983 written differently is 11/6/1983. But wait, there’s more! Let’s break it down further. 11 619 8+3=11 11 619 11. It’s a palindrome which is the same number right side up and upside down. 11 11 separated by 619. If 1 is the mirror the number is either 911 or 611 upside down. 69 is also a twin flame symbolic number and the 1 can simply be representational of the 1111 gateway. Also, the numbers 619 add up to 16 and reduces to 7. 7+4 is 11.

Numerology and specifically the number 11 is interjected throughout the scenes too. Just look at the Hawkins Middle School hallways. They are white with blue double lines that are 11s. The Hawkins Lab is an X shaped building with a vacant middle. In other words it is a building consisting of 4 rectangular shapes which if you put them side by side would be 1111. Chief Hopper’s badge number is 380 which is 8+3=11. Murray’s license plate, seen when he first appears at the police station, is 92KL74. 9+2 =11 7+4= 11 K is the 11th letter and L is the 12th letter. Written in numbers the license plate can be read 11111211. When Nancy and Jonathan arrive at the hotel, the clock reads 10:10 exactly. The same with Mr Clarke’s class, the clock reads 10:10. Murray’s address is 3833 8+3=11 and both 11 and 33 are master numbers. In the Hawkins lab, when hopper meets with the Dr. The clock hands are on 11 and 1. In the video of Halloween, the time it begins is 6:11. Jonathan’s license plate is 9U61J1 j is the 10th letter and the 1J1 part of the license place numerically is 1101. Vertical lines are ever present in the set scenery all plant 11s in our subconscious. Even when Elle looks under the floor boards of Hopper’s cabin and sees the boxes, the box labeled “Dad” has two vertical creases which form an 11. When Mike meets with Dustin and Lucas in the AV room a yellow box behind him reads 425. 4+2+5 is 11. Jane’s mom’s Home number is 515 Larabee. 5+1+5 is 11. 353 days that Mike called Elle on the Walkie Talkie. 3+5+3 is 11. Hopper’s name plate is in all caps and reads HOPPER. The H and the PP have 11 and 11 within the letters. In The Lost Sister episode, in season 2, there 1111 and 111 were seen in the graffiti at 8’s hideout, especially when 11 saw a vision of Papa. The bus 11 came to Illinois (more 111 imagery) was numbered 2422. 22 is a twin flame number and by the way, Will was born on March 22, 1971.

11 is also a number associated with awakening and manifestation of thoughts. If there is an ever present thread throughout Stranger Things, it is that thoughts are manifested into reality, or a surreality that infects this reality.

Now, let’s talk about the 1111 Gateway and Twin Flames. This is the part where the crazy train might leave the rails. Like I said, be gentle with the straight jacket. The 1111 Gateway is a nexus to another dimension, a higher existence and it opens and closes within the number 11. Each door of the Gateway is an 11. An 11 opens it and an 11 closes it. In spirituality, it isn’t some kind of portal for demagorgons and mindflayers to enter our world, but that’s ST creative license. It is a gateway to the supernatural; a world where the powers of 11 are not simply fantastical. In the spiritual world, there are connected souls who have telepathy and extraordinary powers related to their energy. While you are entertained by Stranger Things, the reality is that there are those who walk among us who can change the world at will. Of course, you’d need a Murray like sense of conspiracy theory to accept that fact, but let’s not forget, Murray was mostly right.

Now, Twin flames are something particularly strange and wonderful. The difficult concept to understand is that Twin Flames are the same soul in two different bodies across many lifetimes. They are ancient souls who are connected forever. It’s actually not so strange when you think about it. Keep in mind, the physical body we see is only 1% of what makes us up. The 99% remaining is energy. So who you see everyday is only a shell of who they are. With twin flames, they look different and act different, but they are simply different aspects of the same person.

Sometimes twin flames even exist in different dimensions and they might not even know each other in a given lifetime. Historically, it is said that some souls were too powerful when they were created or volunteered to experience duality and needed to be divided in two to experience aspects of existence separately. Plato in Symposium, described humans as having 4 arms and 4 legs two heads and that Zeus divided them and made them search for each other.

With twins, there is typically a spiritual twin and a matrix twin. The spiritual twin usually wakes up first and has all kinds of powers that are soul related. 11 is the spiritual twin. She is the “weirdo” who doesn’t fit in this world. Her telepathic and telekinetic powers are supernatural. She opened the 1111 Gateway several times and seemingly closed it. In season 1, when Will was in the upside down, 11 was in this world, along with the dimension shifting demogorgon. When she destroyed the demogorgon, she was transported back to the upside-down and Will came back from there. In season 2, we know that Will came back with a demogorgon dog that he threw up as a slug and the mind-flayer was in pursuit of him. Why him you ask? Because he is 11’s twin flame. “Will” upside-down begins with 11. Why would I say that when 11 loves Mike, (asks all the fan girls who ship them)?

First, let’s get the Mike thing out of the way. Mike is connected to both 11 and Will as their soulmate. A soulmate is part of a twin flame’s soul family and is a separate individual entirely. It makes sense that the Mike loves both 11 and Will because they are the same person in two different bodies. Their energy is the same. Twin flame can be in a romantic relationship, but the meeting of twin flames usually involves a mission or purpose.

Why do I suspect Will is 11’s twin flame? What is the evidence? In season 1, while Will is missing, 11 having never seen Will, immediately recognized him. Will survived in the upside-down when Barb did not. It wasn’t simply his ability to hide that kept him alive. I suspect he has unawakened powers as a matrix twin. He is able to navigate in both worlds and shifts between them without the gateway.

Additionally, eleven’s thoughts are connected to his. She knew where he was and that he wasn’t dead because she could feel his energy, his soul. She was trained to find people, but under very specific conditions. With Will, she simply can sense him without any sensory deprivation means. There are many other specific twin flame symptoms which Elle and Will meet, but in the end, the connection between them is clear and related to the 1111 Gateway.

The mind-flayer and the demogorgons simply kill those who it can, but with Will, it entered and became him. Will cannot be just some random kid who happened to fall into the upside-down. He was hunted in season one and possessed in season two. I would not be surprised if in season three, Eleven, aka Elle, aka Jane Ives aka Jane Hopper is hunted by the mind-flayer and Will awakens with 11ish powers. He is already awakening, not only though his thoughts and creativity, but even his eyes have changed from brown in season one to what appears to be green in season two. Eye color change is also a symptom of spiritual awakening.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out, but the creators of the show know how to stoke the fire by adding in numbers imagery and symbolism.
