This is one of my favorite songs off any Homestuck album ever, but I didn’t realize how cool it was until I read more about it. ‘Rex Duodecim Angelus’ means something like ‘King of Twelve Angels’ & it is a musical representation of the Beta trolls’ battle against their 12x prototyped Black King.

It starts off with an intro to the King himself.

This is just what I think he’d look like, there’s a lot of prototyping to work with. Anyway, guy get’s a nice intro because he’s pretty important.

The first to attack is Karkat at 1:44, leading his team into the fray, because of course he would he’s the leader didn’t he tell you

Terezi quickly follows at 2:03 because she’s got her bro’s back. Hell yes Terezi Pyrope go kick some licorice ass.

Even at 2:34, the King is feelin’ the pain & throws a few blows himself.

Up next at 2:56 is brave Tavros, riding on waves of pure unrestrained self-esteem. And also his rocket chair.

Kanaya chimes in at 3:15. You can even hear the rev of her chainsaw. Kanaya goddamn Maryam is such a badass.

Things get intense at 3:34 when everyone’s favorite pale pals, Nepeta & Equius bring the pain side by side. I love these two so much, they are just the best meowrails & I love them.

They are followed at 3:54 by Feferi & Eridan. I like to think Dan saw Fef charging in & he rushed to back her up.

By 4:15, thing have gotten pretty serious, but the King’s still standing & still swinging.

So at 4:36, Sollux & Aradia & about a thousand Aradiabots take him down several notches. The Aradiabots are directing meteors at the King & there is psychic badassery all around.

At 4:56, Gamzee has forgetten DRUG INDUCED STUPOR. Gamzee has learned RAGE. What’s interesting is that he mimics the Black King’s theme with honks before getting his own really cool theme. Did he use his jokerkind abstratus & role as a mimic to actually mirror the King’s power? I do not know, but it sounds cool.

According to Karkat, Gamzee’s attack did crazy damage although no one really knew what the hell happened. You can tell it’s an important part of the song. Anyway, the King’s pretty beaten down by about 5:31.

All we need is one hardcore spider8itch to deal the final blow & end this show & oh there’s Vriska right now.

She lands the highest damage roll with her Flourite Octet & ding dong the King is dead! The trolls are victorious! Yay!

I like to think that the sounds of rain are the Black King’s blood falling after serious damage.

Is the endboss King’s blood red or black or what? I’m gonna go with black because I’m drawing the pictures I do what I want.

I just really wanted to illustrate this song & draw the Betas in rarin’-to-fight poses. I’ll go back to working on requests & stuff now.
