INDIA 2015 Thoughts... My trip to India at the end of 2015 was totally eye opening and amazing. I loved the people and the place so much, the way of life is so different but so similar which meant it was great to observe and record in my sketchbook and on my camera! This photograph captured a moment in which some of the locals in Kovalum, where I was staying, wanted to have a look at the work I had done on the trip so far. It was really intriguing for me because when it came to a page with patterns on that I had taken inspiration from Indian textiles, the kids would point at a particular design and shout out a name; I will need to be researching these different names and symbols so I know just as much as the kids did! It was also great because they recognised the portraits of local people and areas I had drawn. I then got a chance to do some henna that they had, which they then let me keep! I have always wanted to do henna and I would love to continue to practice it (I think I need to!). In 2016 I will be continuing this project based on this trip to Kerala and Tamil Nadu, and I can't wait!
