©24/12/15 CHRISTMAS CARDS!

This year I was so busy that my Christmas cards were left right down to the last minute :( but I was desperate to make my own instead of buying them!

Scouring the shops Christmas shopping was great inspiration for creative ways to design festive crafts - my favourites being shops like Paperchase and Anthropologie! I kept seeing wrapping paper and gift bags with really simple screen printed colour blotches, then with a simple line design on top. I thought this could be a really easy and simple way to make some cute cards.

I was only planning on doing a few cards so I just used paint instead of any processes such as screen printing. I grabbed some red paint and just did a few finger prints in a row. I then left them over night to dry (although it would probably take about 5 minutes to dry at best) as I wanted to ensure the paint didn’t get stuck in my pens as I always get impatient and wreck my pens!  Once the paint was dry I did a quick google of robins to remind myself of their wings and beaks etc, then I just left it to my imagination and played about with a few robin line drawings! I was really happy with the final results and I think home made cards are great even if they aren’t perfect! In future I would probably just make more as I think the robin designs would improve and get more creative with practice! This is a really fun way of making your own cards and I think I will continue to mess about with these quick and simple paint and pen designs as they are a relaxing break from spending hours on an illustration!
