For my India brief I really want to capture as many aspects of my time there as possible. Kovalam beach was my base during my time in South India. Although there were more tourists, particularly Russian, by the end of my stay; when I arrived at the beach I was met by purely locals. It was heavily raining and loads of men stood around the entrances to a few shops and around the beach helping with the fisherman. I took my reference photograph a few days later when they were in the midst of working together as a team to pull the ropes and netting inwards from the shore and off the boats. I took the photograph because I really liked the composition of the people standing at foreground, mid-ground and background and how the scene managed to capture the beauty in the simplicity of Indian life and routine. It was really good to witness so many people working together on such an age old profession. It was especially great because all of the fish in the local restaurants were from local fishermen bought and sold fresh from the sea and rivers.
