This is the first window air conditioner ever. The Thorne from 1932. This picture is from the June 15, 1932 issue of Electric Refrigeration News. (Thanks to Andy Kluck for this picture.) A small quantity of these were made but this unit was never mass-produced. It was designed and tested in the spring of 1931 by Ward Thorne of Chicago and advertised for sale in 1932 by Thorne Motor Corporation.
