I’m so HAPPY with My NEW Girlfriend, I wrote about HER

Girlfriend?!

Read on…you’ll see.

It’s the rainy season again! Best be ready with the top essentials for staying dry (or drying up), but for people always on-the-go, schedules packed with deadlines, hates wearing bulky rain gear just to avoid getting wet and still remain in style for that 10 O’clock meeting- a small puddle unconsciously stepped on will ruin your day (especially if you’re rushing to the adjacent building or to the car wearing crisp white Manolos or Ferragamos). What’s a Tom-cat got to do?

The Solution?

Easy! I bought me some boots! I’m not referring to the huge, drab, shiny rubber galoshes that workers wear while hauling fish or fixing manholes.  I’m referring to the classic brand of TRETORN rubber boots.  I have been itching to buy them since last year… and finally…

Fashion is Function!

I bought one especially for my daily rainy office journeys. These boots were not only made for walking, they’re literally made for skippitdy-hopping in the rain with flair.  They make the downpour a theatrical effect for a street fashion show.

Made of high-quality rubber, it has a good solid color, a round toe line, the embossed Tretorn logo, a lug sole, fancy strap detailing, a cushioned and lined interior, and a 1.2 inch heel (some are flat). They give my toes a comfortable and cozy niche to dig into, and to keep them from getting water-wrinkles. I don’t even need to remove my socks, change into flip-flops and pull-up my pants-up. Neither do I need to walk frantically (when I don’t have an umbrella) nor, pace wearisomely (even when I have one) and all those other inconveniences one experiences in this unsettling weather.

The best part is they come in various styles and colors to match your personality—from a flamboyant yellow to an easy-to-pair-with black, from monotones with gray accents to duotones with strings and buckles, from ankle-high boots (Skerry) to knee-high rubbers (Emelie/Solfiero) that has a leather-like appearance and texture. Since they are principally rain boots destined to be sodden (only styled and restructured), these babies are very low-maintenance and don’t require much cleaning. You also need not worry about getting unsightly creases compared to regular footwear. Another good thing is that ALL their rubber boots come in only one price (P3990.00 only inclusive of the 12% VAT) no matter how high the rubber boots get (plus they give you a free Tretorn umbrella with every purchase).

The Downers?

Availability! There is only one Tretorn store in the Philippines. Honestly, I wanted to buy the ankle-high boots (Skerry), since I didn’t want to look like an equestrian striding the avenues of Makati.  Sadly they ran out of sizes for my sizable walkers, so I settled on the knee-high rubber boots that although, they don’t look like it, were originally made for the ladies (Sorry boys!). The men’s boots (Strâla/Hovdala/Snö/Robust Heritage etc.) are not sold here in the Philippines, but if you’re in dire need of posh rubber boots or a fashion risk-taker or both (like me), then go and get them… After all, fashion is never sexist and true style can never be typecast. It’s all in the way you carry yourself.

As for me, I got me a pretty girl named “Emelie T. Boots” (black and brown knee-high Tretorn Boots) and I love her already, even if it’s just week-one of our cold and wet adventures together (pun intended). More storms are coming in the next weeks, but I’m certain that nothing will rain on my parade and soak my socks (even if it’s literally torrential sideways).  This Tom-cat will be keeping it cool (and warm at the same time) like a Mambo with very happy feet!

A Tretorn Tribute.
